Aria

This bouncing 5 year old came into the beauty parlor while I was there and I fell in love. With her mother's permission, I photographed her. Instead of the black parlor chair, I painted her into a chair in my home, loving the elegant chair against the cowboy boots and her blue and pink and blonde hair. I painted the background the teal of the salon, but that seem to interfere with painting Aria. I then mixed some gray, and with a palette knife smeared gray randomly behind Aria. When I finished with her portrait, the background was a bit too rough, but I liked the effect. I have a brick wall in my home which inspired the antique brick wall in the background, reflecting the colors of her hair, the warmth of the chair and the wood floor.
