Take a beautiful summer stroll through New York City’s Central Park, starting here, at this southeastern corner, just around the bend and out-of-sight from Gapstow Bridge, and beyond the canopy of the towering trees above, at street level, with the historic Plaza Hotel as a prominent backdrop. Here, in this oil painting, the artist compels the viewer to let go of the nearby sounds and distractions that tend to define Midtown Manhattan, and instead find escape and refuge, as if in deep meditation and repose, focusing on the gorgeous June sky, the slow movement of the water and the beauty of the cheerful daylilies. A slight breeze. The perfect day! The artist utilized several photographic reference studies to create this painting in his East Village Studio.
