I was inspired to paint this public display of lobster buoys as we here in Maine are in survival mode to keep our fishing industry. Lobsters are essential to our economy and a way of life for so many. Each buoy represents a family and their livelihood. This past summer, some organizations blacklisted lobsters because they believed their fishing strategies threatened right whales. That is not true here in Maine. I felt this was a tribute to this moment and hopefully speak for justice!
