Through this series, Lovett explores the concept of truth and our individual journey to find it. He beautifully and delicately renders bronc and bull riders clinging to their opponent, both rider and animal in independent although tethered struggle. Through these works, Lovett is depicting the sometimes-violent struggle to find truth, both with ourselves and with forces in the world around us. In a clean greyscale color palette against crisp white backgrounds, Lovett brings the terms Western and Modern together in each of his paintings.
