Kennedy Meadows

Kennedy Meadows, Beginner
Kennedy Meadows
One of the best kept secrets of California is that California Route 108 exists, and offers some of the best scenery in the state. As the river climbs up the Middle Stanislaus drainage before crossing over into the east bound West Fork of the Walker watershed, the corridor is a dream for the outdoor enthusiast. One such spot to spend some time living that dream, is the Pacific Crest Trail as it departs Kennedy Meadow climbing up to Relief Reservoir. This painting is of the surroundings as you leave the pack station. I was taken by the triad of lodgepole pines standing so tall in the meadow, framing the meadow with the mountain and dome behind, as if a reminder to keep looking up as the scenery was just so splendid.
