The Zebras

I thought these animals would be easier to paint. I thought their stripes would emphasize their forms and do my work for me. Not so. Their stripes actually curve inward over their rotund bellies ruining the illusion of roundness. I wonder if that is to fool lions into thinking they are not fat, so they are a less tempting meal.
Regardless, as an artist, it wasn't working for me. I therefore, ditched reality and painted them as I liked.
