Prima Notte

Incredibly warm and fond memories of my first night in Florence, Italy. A private tour guide walked me through the rainy evening, taking me to places an artist wants to know. This was the only English language book shop in the city, it glowed, as did the entire scene. People trotted along shopping or stood in doorways to take a call, or just to watch the lively activity.
Such vivid memories are rewarding, and they come through in the final work. Every time I look at this painting, I am hurled back in time to that amazing first night (Prima Notte) in Florence.
