An acrylic painting based on a photo I took of a cardinal that frequently visited my backyard. I started with a complete tonal underpainting which I feel added vibrancy to this piece. I chose to do this painting for several reasons. I love painting birds and I felt that the complexity of the pine needles and leaves would challenge me.
