This is an Oil study for a major studio work to explore how the reality of the intense cloudscape experienced at sea translates for a major studio work. May I say there is great joy in this little painting, despite the details of its reference. This amazing sky is what greeted my brothers and I when we headed offshore in the gulf to spread my moms ashes, way back in 2019. It was almost as if the sky was replying... 'all is well' beautifully so. It is something that have been wanting to paint since experiencing it. Had finally begun the study as worked out the details for the major work, knowing its title as began it would be "Fare-Thee-Well" Ironically, the week this was on the easel, received a call in regards to my Pop's. There is no coincidence that the week that I said good-bye to my Pop's here on earth, that this little "Fare-thee-well" is what greeted me at the easel. There is a peace beyond all understanding in just how Art mirrors 'life' and all of its drama, that in the end simply reflects great peace and beauty.
