Waiting

I wanted to do a still-life in hyper-realism with items that are intricate and detailed, and caused light to both reflect and refract in interesting ways. While creating my set-up, my cat 'Olivia' decided to walk into the middle of it, and sit. She certainly changed the overall tenor of the scene. She also proved the axiom, that "cats can go wherever they want"... I always wanted to paint animal fur, and the manner in which the light interacted with her's made for an interesting contrast to the existing defined and hard elements and their relationship with the light. Olivia is looking out a window, and she was 'waiting' to see my husband come home. Or, she just has to be in the middle of everything.
