Human Still-life: The Conversation

While in London in the Subway, my friend and her husband were having a notably intense 'conversation'. I captured the moment, and upon reviewing it, knew I wanted to paint it. The overall complexity of the scene, along with an extremely varied cast of humans - captured in an instant of time - suggest a myriad of interesting characters with their own unique stories. The detail required to properly convey the moment is very precise, especially with multiple reflections which created an intriguing natural perspective. The shoes were my actually my favorite part to paint, very much a departure from the majority of the picture. I considered naming it 'Shoes & Humans'.
