Electric Love

Oil on linen panel. Still life in studio. I was looking for a bouquet at the store to paint, and once the employee knew it was for a still life, they kindly gave it to me for free. Red roses on a black background can be cliche, so I leaned into the cliche of color and light. I was taken by the light shining through the vase which became it's own star of the painting. I wanted the energy and light to convey the excitement of a new love.
