Muddied Cotton

A mature cotton plant is such a contradiction of texture, soft rounded white boules attached to dark, hard spiky stalks. This piece, grown in a low lying spot had been ignored by the reaper. The boules, heavy from rain, sagged. I found the variety in this subject fascinating. Painted on location.
