Overboard

Oil on panel. My family went on a cruise over Christmas and I brought an entire suitcase extra of my plein air supplies. I painted on the ship all week. I'm sure I was quite the spectacle! This was painted in studio, but the reference photos were from a day where the cruise ship encountered 2 rafts at sea. It was the morning after very bad weather. There were no people on board, but there had at some point. I watched the search and recover mission by the crew and wondered what happened to those lost souls.
