Jumbled Trees over the Nets

Jumbled Trees over the Nets, Landscape
Jumbled Trees over the Nets
Two giant Cypresses hang over the bend in the road, where a jumbled mix of trees crowd the protective nets stretching over the Loquat orchard. The Persian Lilac trees shine bright orange against the general greyness ,really cheering up the winterness of it all.
There are many variations of net-covered trees around the village where I live; I find their shapes mysterious and almost abstract.
I love to share with you the strange views created by this contrast between the manmade landscape and the wilderness.

It's been such bad weather lately, the furthest plein air painting location I could reach was the driveway!
I took out all my plein air painting gear and set up under the car shed.
Started with a pencil sketch, then a rough color block-in.
Came out again a couple of days later for the color variations, and finished it up in my warm, dry studio while it was pouring buckets outside!

Oil color on Birch panel, 30x30 cm (11.8 in)
