Sitting on a cold wet rock in early spring with spray on my face, taking in the sight of this magnificent waterfall, I felt called to the challenge of painting this awe-inspiring experience, as true to life as possible. I knew it was a lofty goal but my determination to honor this place (named one of the nine wonders of the world) kept me pushing through the extreme tedium of the painting process. Using tiny brushes to accomplish the varying details of cascading water and to give the effect of motion, demanded every ounce of patience I could muster. At times, quite literally pushing me to the edge of madness. Of course now looking back I can laugh and say it was all worth it!
