High Summer

This is an acrylic painting of a view from a hike on the Heart Lake trail in Shasta California, on a beautiful summer day. The title is a play on words as it was the middle of summer at high elevation. I had hiked to over 7,000 ft above sea level when I captured the reference photo while resting in the shade of a tree. The well-deserved view was stunning and I felt free as a bird up there. I love to paint the places I've been as a way of cherishing sweet memories. It's my way of honoring the beauty of the wilderness and sharing it with everyone who views my art.
