Giant City State Park, Illinois

I love to paint rivers, streams, and creeks flowing through wooded areas. A number of years ago, I painted with friends at Giant City State Park in southern Illinois. Since that time, I have done several paintings from my location study and photographs, and I can still conjure those initial feelings I experienced when I painted on location. This painting was done using a splatter technique underpainting incorporating dry pigments. This is one of my favorite techniques for adding texture to a painting. The painting was completed using traditional watercolor.
