January Morning, Castle Hill

In this image I'm concerned primarily with capturing the extraordinary light of this winter morning.

Being flooded with sunlight elicits both an emotional state and a physical sensation. I'm interested in trying to make that connection with a depiction of light on a flat surface.

I love the negative space in this composition, as it gives plenty of space to depict the reflections from the road surface. It also leads the eye and the imagination down the hill and round the corner of the Castle pub.
