Northface of Merced Lake

This plein air painting in oil represents an epic adventure through the backcountry of Yosemite. In the spring of 2022, a small group of my friends and I backpacked over 30 miles through this gorgeous expanse of wilderness. Whenever we had longer moments of rest during these six days of intense hiking, I would paint. The Merced River and Merced Lake provided constant sources of inspiration. Thankfully we returned to this spot on Merced Lake on our journey back, where I managed to work in a second session to finish the painting.
