“On the Banks of the Whitewater” was inspired by a trip to my hometown in Brookville, IN. The sycamore trees are within viewing distance of the historical home, “the Hermitage,” an important summer retreat for the Hoosier Group, a group of five plein air artists. Although much has change in Southeastern Indiana, I like to think that these Sycamore trees may have been standing on the banks of the Whitewater when Otis Adams or T. C. Steele walked and painted nearby.
