Algonquin poetry

My goal for this scene of the Algonquin Highlands (Ontario) was to recreate the dramatic effect of those mysterious dark water lakes we have here in Canada. I worked with a limited palette and mixed the complimentaries to get the darks up to an almost perfect black. Then I played the warm tones in a fauvist manner to get the result I wanted.
