Frozen River

Plein Air painting in Pagosa Springs ????

Two years ago I sat on this same river and painted this landscape. It’s cold, I always forget to wear sunscreen, and I absolutely love it.

The snow sparkles and crunches under your feet as you wade through it. The crows are loud and are probably chatting out the crazy lady sitting in the snow. My paint dried slower than I thought it would and I saw some deer cross the river while I was painting. The world moves so quickly around us and I find myself grasping to make time slow down but nothing has made it slow down like sitting on a frozen river and painting for hours. This painting took about 3 hours and I’m grateful I took the time to do it.

I feel like there is so much more to do to it but one of my favorite quotes keeps coming to mind:
