Serenity

This is a commissioned work. At first, I wasn't sure if this particular image of the cabin up north in Michigan would work. The centered composition and the dull and cloudy winter day photo didn't seem striking to create a beautiful oil painting. I wanted to decline but decided to give it a try. Since I've painted plein air in the winter a couple of times in the past I thought I can use couple plein air paintings as reference. To my surprise, I am thrilled with the way it turned out. I felt inspired to share that this could be possible using the dull photo into a beautiful artwork. I used oil on Artefex brand panel with a 1.5" wood frame for the support. He wanted the floating style.
