Meditations on the Nolichucky

I paint en plein air with several other artists on Mondays and I started this rendering August 2022. During the holidays I decided to finish it and when I looked up the reference photos, I noticed a figure in the background. A woman meditating and my painting took a new course in the studio. The original en plein air did not have the bridge in it but when I decided to add the figure, it needed the bridge for perspective. A lovely story to tell and one many of us can relate to. There's nothing like being out there, quietly meditating and enjoying this beautiful world we call home. I started this rendering with a grisaille underpainting as I always do and add several passes of color to achieve the atmospheric depth I wished to achieve.
